Carefor Hospice Cornwall
Hospice Cornwall provides end of life care in a home like setting for the residents of Cornwall,
Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, as well as Prescott and Russell Counties. As part of the basic
human needs, the Hospice provides a non-denominational room for reflection and where
spiritual care such as counseling and prayer is promoted for the patient, family members and
their friends. Although recent client satisfaction surveys indicate a high level of satisfaction of
spiritual care there are still many opportunities to increase our patients and their family and
friends end of life transitions.
As a result, Hospice Cornwall has assembled a team of spiritual care advisors, a social worker,
volunteers and nurses in order to begin discussions on which opportunities to address. As a
result of their combined efforts we now have a spiritual care advisor available one day a week to
support the patients, their families and their friends. We have now moved to the phase of
decorating and furnishing the room while meeting the government’s requirements and those of
the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA).
In order to achieve our objective, we need your help. The Cornwall Hospice is asking for
$6,950.00 Very few people in this room have not been touched by the end of life physical, social
and financial challenges. The completion of this room will allow our clients to temporarily
remove themselves from their reality, their truth so that they can seek solace and peace, and so
that they may regenerate through conversations with their higher power. During their struggle
this space will contribute to their positive emotional, psychosocial and spiritual health outcomes.
I stand here tonight and ask that you cast your vote behind the Cornwall Hospice to further
strengthen our community.
