Carefor Hospice Cornwall opened its doors to Cornwall and area residents in September of 2009. Since then it has provided end of life care to 1400 clients, ranging in age from 12-103 yrs. Other services provided include bereavement groups, caregiver support and day away for palliative clients living in the community.
Hospice only receives partial funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and therefore must raise $685,000 annually to meet the operational budget.
After 10 years of usage, the TVs in the patient rooms are in need of replacement with Smart TVs. This will allow patients to Skype with family members regardless of where they live and provide much needed support to the patient.
We often receive requests for family movie nights or all-time favorite shows on Netflix that we are unable to fulfill since the current televisions are not equipped with the required technology.
Our Project: Replacement of 10 40-inch televisions with 10 40-inch smart TVs.
What is the estimated cost of this project: $7,910
What is the estimated date of completion of this project: 05/31/2020
This project directly affects the residents of Cornwall & Area by allowing patients to connect with family living afar. Some family remain day and night at the bedside and the TV really provides some diversion for them.
We wish people knew that we are the only residential Hospice in Eastern Ontario no cost to clients.
